Apple's AirPort Extreme wireless networking products lets you surf the Internet from almost anywhere in your home or business, and enables schools to provide Internet access to multiple students without installing expensive cabling. With AirPort Extreme-enabled Macintosh systems, it's a snap to exchange files or play multiplayer games at data transfer rates of up to 54 megabits per second. And because AirPort Extreme uses radio waves for communication, it can even work through walls.Even with its increased performance AirPort Extreme is compatible with the industry-standard 802.11b wireless networking protocol, which means all AirPort products, as well as Wi-Fi certified 802.11b wireless products, will work with AirPort Extreme. For higher performance you need to have both the Airport Extreme Card and the AirPort Extreme base Station. The range of AirPort Extreme is up to 50 feet at 54 Mbps and up to 150 feet at 11 Mbps. Since AirPort antennas are built into all new computers from Apple, all you need to add is an internal AirPort Extreme Card for each AirPort Extreme-ready system you want to bring onto a wireless network. Not sure why it didn't work a good distance from the Network module. Great that we could get online that way. The Airport Extreme Card was fine. Other computers do work from that distance but we just moved our Macintosh G5 closer and the problem was solved.

So simple and quick to install, and I was on the (wireless) internet in mere minutes. Why did I wait so long to try it. The Airport Extreme delivers as promised. Apple's definitely got this one down.
Yay. Some other people said that here too.The antenna wasn't plugged in all the way. My iBook wasn't connecting well at all. Had to be really close to WiFi. It snaps in more tightly than you might expect.http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa.threadID=564560&tstart=712I snapped it in, and now I'm back on the web.
Wireless G was surpassed by a newer version of the Airport extreme using a technology called "wireless 802.11N." If this wireless G card is paired with a wireless N router, you will only get slow wireless G speeds. Big time ripoff, questionable seller for failing yo add that this "new technology" is already quite ancient. Wireless G is and older and slower technology, buy an N card or adapter. Is this a joke. Description says the Airport extreme card has a " new wireless technology called 802.11g". Great deal though if your goal is to slow your network down.
